Meet Dr. Doerr

dr harold a doerrDr. Doerr is a 1980 graduate of Northwestern University Dental School, located in Chicago, IL. He graduated with honors receiving the American College of Dentists Award for Academic Distinction, American Academy of Oral Medicine Award for Excellence, and a membership in Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Fraternity. He was also awarded membership in the Northwestern University Dental School Honorary Apollonian Society. Dr. Doerr completed his residency in Periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia, PA.

He has since been awarded memberships in three honorary dental organizations: the Pierre Fauchard Academy in 1995, the fellowship of International College of Dentists (FICD) in 2000, and was awarded fellowship in the American College of Dentists (FACD) in 2008. In 2009, he was admitted to membership in the American Academy of Dental Practice Administration.

Dr. Doerr has served on the faculty of Northwestern University Dental School, University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, and the University of Colorado, School of Dentistry. He has been placing dental implants since 1988 and providing oral cosmetic surgery since 1991.

His professional activities include numerous positions for the South Dakota Dental Association and the Black Hills District Dental Society. In addition, he served 12 years on the Board of Directors for Delta Dental Insurance of South Dakota. He lectures, primarily about oral cosmetic surgery, the development of pleasing smiles and Comprehensive Multidisciplinary Treatment Planning. Audiences include study clubs, State Dental Associations and national professional meetings.

Dr. Doerr is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, South Dakota Dental Association, and Black Hills District Dental Society.

He has served as president of the St. Thomas More High School Booster Club for 5 years. In addition, he has served on the stewardship committee at Calvary Lutheran Church. He also helped to organize the “Adopt a Class” program at Meadowbrook Elementary School. In the past, he has coached youth basketball and baseball. His time spent outside of his professional life include activities with family which include hunting and fishing.

He and his wife Juli have three children. They have resided in Rapid City since 1986.
