Dr. Scanlon is a 2008 graduate of the Creighton University School of Dentistry located in Omaha Nebraska. He graduated with honors receiving the American Academy of Periodontology Dental Student Award, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists Dental Predoctoral Achievement Award, and the Quintessence Award for Student Research. In addition to serving as class president, he also won the freshman dental research table clinic competition and was selected to participate in the American Dental Association Student Conference on Research.
His residency in Periodontics was completed in 2011 at the Medical University of South Carolina located in Charleston South Carolina where he served as chief resident. His program included training in advanced periodontal therapy, bone grafting, implant therapy and IV sedation.
Dr. Scanlon currently serves on the faculty of the Medical University of South Carolina in the division of Oral Rehabilitation as well as Creighton University School of Dentistry in the Department of Periodontics. He currently lectures throughout the region discussing the topics of oral health, dental implants, and oral reconstruction.
He is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, the South Dakota Dental Association, the Black Hills District Dental Society, and the Academy of Osseointegration.
He and his wife Amy have two daughters and reside in Rapid City. When not treating patients, Chuck enjoys spending time with his family and being in the outdoors as much as possible. He is an avid hunter and fisherman.
